Q: Meta Conversation Charges...?
Hello,
ManyContacts seems promising for our SME, but we have some questions that need clarification:
- Do we need to pay Meta's conversation charges for conversations we send via ManyContacts?
- Is the "scheduled messages" feature anything like email automation offered by the likes of ActiveCampaign, etc.? Can we send messages based on tags?

Jul 20, 2025A: 1. Meta Conversation Charges
If you connect WhatsApp Business using a QR code (the basic method), you don’t pay conversation charges to Meta. But this method is less stable and limited.
If you use the WhatsApp API, which is much stronger and official, then you do need to pay Meta’s conversation charges, because you're creating an API account directly with Meta. So it’s optional — you choose the connector.
2. Scheduled Messages
Yes, you can schedule WhatsApp messages to be sent on future dates. It’s a basic scheduling feature (not as advanced as ActiveCampaign’s full automation).
3. Tags & Automation
We offer an advanced tagging system:
– Auto-tag based on keywords from the conversation
– Send mass messages based on tags
But be careful: WhatsApp has a strict anti-spam policy. If you plan to send marketing campaigns, we highly recommend using the WhatsApp API, which is safer (but has a cost) and helps avoid account bans.
