Q: Webcam Quality and Recording options
1. I tested Meet Hour’s free plan with a Logitech Brio MX (4K). While I get 1080p in MS Teams, Meet Hour was not even close to 720p, despite setting video quality to “maximum.” Connection was stable (250 Mbps down / 40 up). Is this due to the free plan? Which tier offers true 1080p?
2. Can I record both speaker view and tile view simultaneously for post-production? Same for screen sharing – can I get separate recordings of screen and speaker?
3. Is the speaker always recorded in 1080p if their webcam and connection are good? Or does Meet Hour limit the final recording to the lowest quality of all participants? Can I set output resolution manually?
4. How looks the tile view recordings, is it without headers and spacing? Can I hide/show participant names?
5. Is “Original Sound” for musicians already available, and in which Tier?

Thank you for testing Meet Hour. May I ask how you determined that the quality was below 720p? By default, Meet Hour streams in 720p (Standard Definition). You can manually increase the quality from your conference settings by selecting HD (1080p), which adjusts based on your bandwidth.
To evaluate the actual output, we recommend recording or live streaming the session via Meet Hour—this gives a more accurate representation of the video quality. Higher tiers support sustained HD video, but it's not restricted only to paid plans; it's also bandwidth and device dependent.
2. Can I record both speaker view and tile view simultaneously for post-production? Same for screen sharing – can I get separate recordings of screen and speaker?
Meet Hour allows you to choose between two recording layouts: Tile View (participants side by side) and Filmstrip View (speaker in the center, others in smaller tiles). You can select your preferred layout before or during the meeting from the recording settings.
When sharing your screen, the shared content appears in the center with participants in side tiles. You can also hide participant tiles during by modifying your recording layout preferences from the dashboard. However, simultaneous recording of both views or separate files for screen and speaker is not currently supported.
3. Is the speaker always recorded in 1080p if their webcam and connection are good? Or does Meet Hour limit the final recording to the lowest quality of all participants? Can I set output resolution manually?
Recordings are handled at the server level, so Meet Hour does not downscale to the lowest quality participant. As long as the speaker has good internet and camera quality, their video can be recorded in 1080p.
You can set the video resolution for the entire conference from the Config Settings page in your dashboard. This allows you to maintain consistent output quality throughout the session.
4. How looks the tile view recordings, is it without headers and spacing? Can I hide/show participant names?
In Tile View, all participants appear side by side. In Filmstrip View, the speaker is centered while other participants are shown in small tiles. From the recording settings, you can hide participant side tiles based on your preference to create a cleaner layout for post-production.
5. Is “Original Sound” for musicians already available, and in which Tier?
This feature is currently in our development roadmap (https://roadmap.meethour.io/task/796) and is not yet live. Once released, it will be available starting from Tier 4 and above.
Let us know if you’d like a live demo or walkthrough of these features!
