The plugin in the wp.org plugin repository was originally a simple avatar plugin that we decided to enhance into a membership plugin years ago.

Note that ProfilePress existed many years before the above decision as a premium plugin.

Many users didn’t like the change, hence the 1-star reviews. But we are doing well now, as you can see from the 5-star reviews we continue to receive
