Q: Policy Google

"I want to sell your product to my clients, but I’ve heard online that review gating is prohibited by Google and that you risk having your GMB (Google My Business) suspended or disappearing from the search results because of it. What has your experience been with this, and what are your thoughts on it? After discussing this with my client, can I still ensure that negative reviews are submitted to Google just like positive ones, without using any form of gating?" Is there a possibility to disable the gating?

A: Hi George,

Thanks for reaching out!

At RateMyService, we understand Google's policies on review gating. To ensure compliance, our internal feedback forms for neutral and negative experiences include a link at the bottom: "Choose public review over private discussion, click here."

While our software gently guides customers towards a private discussion, it never restricts their ability to choose a public forum entirely. This ensures we remain compliant with Google's requirements, as the option for a public review is always present if the customer is absolutely adamant on leaving a public review.

For further perspective however, our software serves thousands of users, and we've never encountered any issues related to this specific compliance approach.
