Q: can we limit the captions to 1 line ?
eg upto 4 words but on 1 line ?
also when captions are in 2 line format,
I choose the bottom of the video to place the captions, call this the bottom line.
so most captions are on 1 line, and they appear on the bottom line, where I want them.
but if there is 2 lines of captions it goes on the bottom line and the next line, ie is not visible.
the captions should have logic that if 1 line then they go on the bottom line
and if 2 lines then the bottom line of captions goes on the bottom line,
as I do not want ( in this scenario) the subtitles to go 1 line up from the bottom when they are single line just to accommodate them when there are 2 lines.
limiting the lines and choosing words per line is needed.
thanks

Yes, we’re working on giving you full control over caption line behavior. You’ll be able to:
• Limit captions to 1 line
• Choose max words per line
• Set logic so that single-line captions always appear on the bottom line
• And for two-line captions, the second line will stay above the bottom line — not below it or off-screen.
This is a high-priority UX improvement, and we’re aiming to ship this logic in an upcoming update soon (within few days). Appreciate you flagging this — it’s exactly the kind of feedback that helps us build better.
can you test reap in brave browser ? I open a project in brave and my computer goes mad, fans blaring , but if I open the same project in sidekick browser then computer stays quiet. also when open caption project in editor is the preview a lowers resolution ? because it takes too long to load like it is loading full resolution again.
We’ve seen similar reports with Brave and are testing compatibility now. It seems to spike system usage due to how Brave handles GPU acceleration and memory. Sidekick is Chromium-based like Brave, but with fewer privacy layers, which might explain the smoother experience there. We will take a look to optimize this.
Yes, the editor preview is in lower resolution.
