Some essential features are not included
I love SendFox. It is easy to use and has everything you need. However, the lifetime account is misleading. If you don't want your members redirected to Appsumo after sign up you need to buy a monthly add-on. You also need the add-on if you don't want double optin (which is outdated at this point).
This should be made clear in the description IMO, as these are basic functions.

The Lifetime price we bring to you with SendFox is extremely low. We always encourage Sumo-lings and users to explore their options — and we find that people always come back to us because a *lifetime* of SendFox is about half of a *single month* of similar tools like Mailchimp.
Because our price is so low, we do offer a small monthly add-on with additional features. We further discount this by 50% for Sumo-lings to offer the best deal.
This small monthly cost allows us to continue to bring you the SendFox service. To put it bluntly, without the monthly revenue we would shut SendFox down. We have to pay our backend sending provider every time a user sends an email, so the optional monthly add-on lets us offset those costs and continue to build and improve SendFox for you.
At this point, 150,000+ people are using SendFox. Many of them have been using for 4+ years. There are quite a few customers who have saved $700 to $2,000 (!!!) during that time vs. the cost of the equal Mailchimp tier. That's quite a steal.
Most of these users do not use the Empire Add-On either. You can still have a great email sending practice without Empire, as many people do. Empire gives you extra features — but it's totally optional.
As always, we encourage users to explore their options. If they find a tool that's better than SendFox for their news, great. We support it.
