Best value for your money

I bought the first lifetime deal and was dissapointed because It had upselling options for simple stuff such as colour format and snapshots, and now I do regret it, since I lost the opportunity of a bigger nicer deal. At first glance it can appear that is expensive, but Stackby charges you by rows; so its better deal than options that charges you by records. I literally tried 4 alternatives to discover how good the deal it was.

So here I am buying this lifetime deal, with less perks than the first one that I missed. Once you know how powerups work, having the option to upscale my license its better for me than other lifetime deals that asks me to pay full price whenever more users or features are needed.

In my particular case, buying the 5 tier option and a $124 annual power up is literally $2.48/month per user. Some other options charge as much as $24 USD per user for less space than my 5 tier Stackby license, again because they charge per record and Stackby charge per rows. No code spreadsheets / databases like Stackby are incredible expensive, so I consider myself happy for finding this deal that is affordable for my budget.

Last but not least, documentation is great and is really friendly to use. I read about speed issues below but Im on 160 rows aprox and speed its not an issue at all (about 15,000 records).

Only thing that I wish they improve is support speed. Theyre good but because the timezones sometimes takes more hours to get an answer that I would like.

So there you go, Is not until you compare with other options that you see how good of a deal Stackby is.

Hi there, thanks a lot for the review.

We're working on the product for the last 7 years, growing our team and releasing features and updates a minimum of twice a week.

We're working hard to improve our support speed as well, since we're overwhelmed with support requests (thanks to this campaign).

Really appreciate your review again. Please reach out to us on support@stackby.com if you need...

A Promising Tool Lost in a Maze of Upsells

As an AppSumo user, I was initially excited by the prospect of a lifetime deal for Stackby. The promise of a powerful, all-in-one database and workflow tool was incredibly appealing. However, my enthusiasm has since been tempered by a confusing and often frustrating user experience, particularly when it comes to understanding what is and isn't included in the AppSumo deal.

The core of my frustration lies with the "Power-Ups." After purchasing the AppSumo deal, I quickly discovered that many of the features I was most excited about were locked behind this additional paywall. What makes this particularly vexing is the lack of clarity in the initial offer. The AppSumo deal page paints a picture of a feature-rich platform, but the reality is a more limited version that constantly nudges you towards further purchases.

For example, essential functionalities that I would expect to be standard in a tool like this, such as advanced form features or certain data recovery options, are designated as "Power-Ups." This creates a fragmented and confusing experience where you're never quite sure what will work out of the box and what will require another investment. It feels less like a lifetime deal and more like a down payment on a tool that will require ongoing financial commitment to be truly functional.

This approach to pricing and feature-gating has left me feeling a bit misled. While the core functionality of Stackby is solid, the constant need to navigate a maze of add-ons and "Power-Ups" to unlock its full potential is a significant drawback. It's a promising tool that is unfortunately hampered by a business model that seems to prioritize upselling over a clear and transparent user experience for its AppSumo customers.

I truly hope Stackby considers a more straightforward approach for its lifetime deal users in the future. A clear and upfront explanation of what is included, and a more generous offering of core features without the need for immediate additional purchases, would go a long way in building trust and fostering a more positive user community. Until then, I would advise potential AppSumo buyers to be aware of these hidden costs and limitations before making a purchase.

Hello David,

We launched Powerups back in 2022 with 5 features, and now it boasts over 35 features (across grid, forms, views, sharing/permissions, export/append/restore and more). We have meticulously developed these Powerups - each Powerup is feature rich and solves a particular use deeply.

With a one-time investment on Powerups, it's negligible for buyers who are building serious workflows...

Not having the same experience as others

Honestly, my first impressions of this app are incredibly disappointing. It's tempting to use some unflattering language to describe it so far. The disappointment is both on browser and the iOS mobile app.

Sorting doesn't work as intended. I've created a table for shared expenses between me and my wife and set to sort on the date column in descending order. Entries from the current date get put at the BOTTOM of the table. It seems like current date entries don't float up to the top until the following day or something. It's SOO weird.

On top of this, the performance on my 650-row table is horrendous. I also struggled to import data from Coda (CSV) as it seemed unable to recognize the US date format. What I mean by this is that if the day was 12 or under, it interpreted it as a month. If the day was 13+ it correctly identified the format as US. After importing I had two different date formats, so there was no way get everything into one consistent format. I eventually got it, but it was way more trouble than it was worth.

Oh, and good luck creating a formula. Stackby's attempt to auto-complete formulas based on their function library or fields in your table f*s everything up (stuff disappears, gets overwritten, loses parenthesis, etc.). Your best bet is to avoid the auto-complete and type the whole formula out yourself and use trial and error until you get it right.

It's got SOOO much potential. My intention is to try to replace my $12/month Coda.io subscription with a one-time LTD, but I'm having a hard time justifying the change when it's been such a horrendously a frustrating first 2-weeks.

Hey there,

Addressing all the issues here one by one:

1. Sorting feature: Sort feature in Stackby is not an 'auto-sort' feature. You will have to apply sort once in a while to apply the sort on those columns. The auto sort feature is in the roadmap also it can get confusing for a lot of users if the records get auto sorted and they can't find where the records are in the table.

2. Our users...

No More Frustrations with App Usability: A Personal Experience

I had a frustrating experience with this app; however, I am pleased to report that all issues have now been resolved, and it operates flawlessly. For its usability, I would now rate it a solid 5 tacos.

The Android app could not load more than 15 rows of data. - Fixed

Then there’s the web app, where the pasting function was frequently malfunctioning. - Fixed

At one point, I seriously considered requesting a refund. However, Rachit's team addressed the issues promptly, convincing me to stay.

In conclusion, my overall experience has been excellent. One additional wish: I hope they will consider working on weekends to resolve issues even more swiftly.

Hi Sancho,

Since both the issues are now fixed. I would really appreciate if you can change this into a 5-taco review.

Thanks!

Excellent software with an ambitious roadmap and very responsive support

The app's flexibility allows configuration for virtually any scenario. If you're familiar with database apps or spreadsheets, you'll find Stackby easy to understand and use.

There is a learning curve, but there is very responsive customer support every step of the way, and they are invaluable and on-point.

As a SAAS app, Stackby is easy to implement. Its desktop and mobile apps allow users to use it anywhere, meaning we can frequently and easily monitor progress.

Stackby was very easy to integrate with our app stack, and we use it to coordinate customer forms and create automated records without issues. Stackby holds all the data for our business operations, clients, and partners. It allows easy operations and critical data coordination across multiple teams on three continents.

I have found nothing I don't like and, with most of the enhancements I'd like to see already on their active roadmap, if Stackby keeps its current momentum, it'll be a heavyweight contender in its class.
