A Database/ Spreadsheet Newbie's Review
Firstly, I am not a database/ spreadsheet kind of person. I probably fall more into the 'post-it note and hope' category - but I am willing to try and change and that's where I see the great potential with Stackby. It will certainly help me to become more focussed and organised.
I've been looking into the potential and already see how the forms linked with stacks/ databases can become a key part of a potential client review process as well as client onboarding. The forms allow key questions and information to be asked, collected and stored which will help keep track of their changing needs and requests.
I understand that those with much larger existing databases/ requirements and those who manage data for clients have been frustrated by the apparent limitations on the number of rows and workspaces. The ability to link between stacks to overcome the row limit and keep the data 'together' would seem to make sense. As would the ability to add additional workspaces as part of this deal and to then be able to stack codes to those too. But as it stands, the deal allows those of us with 'more modest' requirements to get into the world of databases/ spreadsheets - without platform branding, with advanced functionality AND with an LTD. And it's the database functionality that is the main attraction for me here. There are other PM tools which I will continue to use alongside it - including the Appsumo deal, Ora.
And this is certainly just the tip of the iceberg. As a database newbie I need to educate myself on what other systems I should put in place too. There are probably a lot of people out there, like me, who would benefit from services like Stackby if they understand WHY they need them. And that may be a big part of how the company can grow, educate those who don't know yet that they have a need for Stackby.
Zapier will be costly for those with large data needs and we all use numerous different SAAS/ Apps. So integrations and webhooks are needed to make it easy for everyone to be able to plug-in to Stackby and use it as their business requires. And to do so in a way that allows newbies like myself to easily understand and implement.
I've been in touch with support and chatted with Rachit and Abizar - both have replied within minutes. My feedback/ suggestions have been well received and they have added them to their do-list.
I've also looked into other options such as Airtable and Infinity. Airtable has a free tier which I would soon outgrow and then need to upgrade to a paid recurring plan. Their free tier has some restrictions which this Stackby deal doesn't have - including branding. Infinity is stronger on the project management but then I already have Ora for PM which meets my current needs.
For me, Stackby's key strength is in the database/ spreadsheet functions, which is what - in the end - sold this particular deal to me.
Good luck to Rachit and the team with their Appsumo launch and I wish you well in the future
