Q: YouTube Keyword Search & Discovery question

I read that YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine and even with the changes in search in YouTube you are missing the boat if you leave keyword search out of the equation for videos you are trying generate sales of products? Is that true? 3. They said YouTube Algorithm now favors broader discoverable topics over hyper-specific search terms. But without the proper optimization of keywords it doesn’t know who to promote your video too.
And that's why we have to use a combination of both keywords for search & discovery to increase chances of videos blowing up on YouTube. They said for a new channel that keywords are critical to find your audience that has an interest in what your channel/videos are about so that way YouTube then knows who to recommend/suggest your videos to? Is this true? Is so, how to create scripts to address this?

A: Keyword optimization is not important for YouTube success.

The AI algorithms used by YouTube are so advanced now that they are able to understand content far better than simple keyword analysis, which was something that was done 10-15 years ago before significant AI advancements. Remember that YouTube has access to your entire transcripts, and is also analyzing the content of your thumbnails to understand the audience. It even analyzes the video itself to understand the content and audience. Keywords are one tiny, tiny part of the algorithm - and even then because of technology advancements, it is easy to cluster similar words together, making keyword optimization less necessary.
