Vento allows me to do screen recordings with camera ability, but its biggest feature is the ability to go back and record over boo boos I make while recording.

If you've ever had to re-record an entire video because you said something wrong on camera, you know what the pain is like. And when you record and re-record again and again, something that should take a couple of minutes turns into an hour or more.

I like that it has automated transcribing that shows up as subtitles. I also like that it generates a link immediately that I can share with my clients to check out my latest screen recording, and I've also tested embeds - works fantastic on my Webflow site, no issues, nothing looks weird.

Personally, I'd like the ability to edit the subtitles (text gets some mistakes), add descriptions, tags, and sort videos into folders. Author annotations seem cool, I haven't tried it yet. Not sure if you can add links (e.g. to other videos) in those annotations, but if they did it'd be cool. The unlimited hosting is a dream, a higher quality rate might be nifty and personally I don't need 4k.

I am happy to wait as the MVP is there and works well, and I feel like all these addditional features are one of those things Vento will get around to eventually.

They're a small team of 3, and seem to be working fast. E.g. I saw a question around May 26 about transcriptions? And I'm writing this review on Jul 13 and transcriptions are already in play. So I feel pretty confident that they'll continue working on this.

I'm also sure they're aware of the big players in the industry with their bells and whistles, so I'm sure some of those will eventually come to Vento. Otherwise, honestly, I think this is a worthwhile buy if you need to do screen recordings on a fairly consistent basis, or even on a occasional basis.

Definitely would recommend. Hopefully Vento will be around for a long while to come!
