or is primarily a look good plugin for post attribution (what I mean by this is it just a plugin that make the authorship of articles look pretty or is there more to it than that?

We don't implement Google Authorship because, as far as I know, Google deprecated it years ago. We also don't affect how search works.
While most of the features are here to "make a visually appealing" author box there are definitely functional features as well. Like adding multiple authors, and guest authors, as well as adding more info to the author box like recent posts. Also, our centralized Dashboard allows you to manage all your sites and licenses in one place + rebrand the plugin.
