Has Potential But Not There Yet

I will start off my review by mentioning that I purchased the highest tier lifetime plan and don't plan to return it. My most important fear was addressed by the founders before I purchased in that the data is stored in Germany and not in Hong Kong, where the company is based. It will be important to preserve this going forward and to get a security review of the code.

With this mentioned, I am going to focus the rest of my review on the product itself.

A great presentation should be about 75% images and infographics and only 25% or less actual words. Gamma, which I am a subscriber to, does a good job of adhering to this principle. Presenti, on the other hand, seems to reverse the principle and provide about 80% text and about 20% images. For example, in a presentation I created with Presenti about AI, Presenti created large blocks of text that I as the speaker could not even read because the text was so dense. If I could not read the text, there is no way that an audience could read it. So, I think reversing this ratio is by far the most important priority for the developers. Test out giving Gamma materials and then try again with Presenti and notice the difference, and then keep trying to reduce this difference.

A great presentation takes a long time to create because it involves identifying the key concepts and then making images and infographics that highlight those concepts and that tell a compelling story. It truly is simplicity on the far side of complexity.

I would like to be able to use Presenti to bridge this gap between the complexity of any subject I might be presenting on and the simplicity of creating straightforward and beautiful slides that capture the essence of the materials and that help keep audiences interested and able to grasp the key points.

As long as I can continue to be comfortable on the data privacy and security sides of things and the quality of the presentations improves as I recommend above, I hope to be able to drop my Gamma subscription by the time it renews in 8 months and just use Presenti.

Need polishing

I can see there is potential and I am keeping presnti with the hope that it will improve. The content generated is very basic though the speed is good. The functions which presenti is very good - mind maps, tables but AI model which they are using should have either gemini or chatgpt 3.o. For LTD with the price is alright but that should not be the aim. The templates need face lift. I am an educator and make 50 ppts a month. I am keeping presenti as I am certain if these changes are implemented then the tool will be amazing.

4 tacos for potential

A lot of potential here.
It is still an unpolished product.
Slides are randomly generated, no connection to content, I do not see how anyone would just want random layouts.
Custom colors were added, but we have to reapply them over and over.
Being able to lock template pages and map to them would be excellent (so sales forecasts or specific data can be mapped to specific slides every time, and not just a random layout for each slide).
Logo option is too limited in size/placement, randomly generated slide content often cover part of it.
Export does not work.

Worked for my user case

Created a presentation based on text in 2 mins. Just what I needed. Exported and tweaked it as necessary. Thank you for the product.

I want to love it, but I can't.

As someone who works in the creative industries, it's important for me to make sure that my presentations and proposals always look clean and represent my concepts well. Since my needs are to keep the designs relatively simplistic yet interesting, I find the design choices on Presenti allow me to format my designs with ease, making it easier to get a design over the line quicker and then move onto other things.

My current method, particularly when it comes to designing a pitch can take several days to create with zero guarantees that I will win the work, so Presenti implements a lot of the alignment and design decisions for me, and with the base AI functions creates decent enough placeholders for me to rewrite and expand on, which is useful.

Last week I made a proposal and aside from a few quirks, Presenti was a great experience. I felt confident that it was the ideal solution for me to work on an important proposal. But when it came to exporting the document, this is when my main problems arose.

Ideally, I prefer sending clients prepared PDFs with all artwork nice and detailed, any svgs/vectors crisp and the text selectable as I include external links. However, the PDF export on Presenti is horrible, it exports each page/slide as a low dpi mushy image within the PDF with no option to change resolution or settings for export.

Naturally, image exports won't work for me as I need selectable and clickable text, which leaves the main primary export method: PPTX.

Oh boy, this was interesting...!!!

No matter how many devices, or browsers or networks I tried exporting on, my proposal wouldn't export at all, despite it claiming that export was complete. I thought it was a Adblock plugin issue, so I even tried to export in safe mode and nothing would happen. I had friends try to help me export on their computers and networks and still nothing.

Eventually, the only solution I could find was to export individual slides and then import them into powerpoint, where I still needed to reformat everything. The experience was pretty horrible as I was hours away from the submission deadline and one of the core functions of this product wasn't working.

Support have tried to help me, and I've not heard anything back from them since I sent over a screen recording highlighting the issue. The thing is, I want to love this product as it's ideal for me, but it's still not quite ready in my opinion.

If they sort out some of the more egregious bugs then it will be a fantastic product, but I just wanted to highlight this to others in case they experience the same issue.

I'll happily change my review if it's fixed, but for now I will stick to my older, slower method and refund in a month or so if we get nowhere.
